Japanese Woodblock Printing Workshop with Laura Boswell

Tuesday 13th February 2013

Following on from the very successful Tuesday night session that Laura ran for us last year we held a one day workshop for eight people at Buckingham Art School.

Laura’s enthusiasm is contagious and she worked us hard keeping up a consistent pace of clear instruction and demonstration; taking us through the process step by step and highlighting where her methodology now varies from the Japanese master from whom she learned the art. She also brought a wonderful selection of examples of her work to inspire and guide us.

Although none of us had experienced the process before we all managed to cut and print a block without shedding blood or tears. Some of the results were really encouraging – so much so that four of us bought a starter kit that Laura sells at a special price for those that have been on one of her workshops. Look out for the results at our May exhibition at The Cote for Bafa@The Woolpack!

Highly recommended. If you are interested, let us know, and we will arrange another one.
