Get up close and personal with the past! Jude Barrett, Head of Education and Outreach at the Ashmolean, will bring key artefacts from the collection, for a talk and object handling activity. Bring your sketchbooks for some quick studies and note taking.

Workshop with the Ashmolean Artist in Residence Weimin He. Cost £ 25.00 per head.
Tues 2 Feb. - AGM with art materials swap and sell
Swap or sell your unused or partially used art materials. There is no cost to participate in this event. Even with nothing to sell or swap you could pick up some bargains and venture into new media at a fraction of the cost.
Tues 2 Mar. - Photographing Art
Local professional photographer and artist, John Credland, will offer guidance on how to photograph work for Publicity and Web purposes. Members may bring in up to 3 unframed pieces of work for consideration of what makes a good photo. John will photograph some work on the night and relay the results through a lap top by way of illustration.
Wed 31 March to Mon 5 April - Stowe Easter Exhibition
For the second year running we are delighted to be working in partnership with the Stowe House Preservation Trust (SHPT) who have kindly made available the Temple Room for our Spring exhibition. Opening times 12 noon to 5pm with last entry at 4pm. Entry 33 per adult over 16. Bafa members free with current Bafa membership card. |

The Artist and his Letters at The Royal Academy, London. By coach. Members £28; Non-members £32. Book early only 29 places.
Thur 15 April - Hidden Stowe - 4pm to 6pm
SHPT will be providing a tour of the house and gardens ( subject to NT approval) for a cost of £8 to include high tea in one of the rooms. The tour will include parts of Stowe not normally seen by the general public.
Tues 4 May - Drawing with a Sewing Machine
At a Textiles Show Case, Bryony Askew will inspire us with her work in this interesting and versatile medium. The proprietors of ‘Nimble Thimble’ in Buckingham will show us a selection of their range of fabrics, threads and sewing accessories.
Tues 1 June - Saint and Sinner
Crispin Robinson, Deputy Head and Head of Art History at Stowe School, will be giving an illustrated talk including the important part that is played by composition. Crispin is renowned for his informative and often amusing talks; a rare and interesting opportunity to brush up on your knowledge of art.
Tues 6 July - The Influence of Photography on Painting
Demonstration and talk by George Irvine, Artist and Art teacher at Stowe School. A painter by training, George has increasingly used photography as a vehicle to create strong and compelling images from mundane everyday objects and their surroundings. Using examples of his and other artists’ work, George will help us look at how photography has influenced art and how to look at photographs through the eyes of a painter.

Tues 7 Sept. - Life Models to Manga
Emily Brady is best known for her life drawing and cartooning abilities. Her work transcends the gap between the real and the imagination. Working from clothed life models Emily will guide us through the process of producing working sketches and then, optionally, developing them into Manga or fantasy figures.
Tues 5 Oct - Palette Knife Painting
Zoe Day, local artist and tutor, will help you to add texture to your paintings using a palette knife. This will be a demonstration and ‘have a go’ session so bring your apron!
Sat 13 Nov to Sun 14 Nov - ‘Inspired by a Poem’ Competition and Exhibition at the Buckingham Community Centre
The new to us central location should make it an excellent place to showcase the high standard of work that is produced by our members.
