Tues 10 January - Creating a mixed media woodcut without a press
Printmaker Iain Hodgkinson'swork exploits the relationship between the print and paint resulting in a marriage of texture, form and depth. After giving an overview of printmaking methods, Iain will guide us through the process of printing small woodcuts onto mixed media backgrounds without a press. He will bring print supplies, please bring paper and dry materials for the backgrounds.
Tues 7 February - AGM and Skill Share Session
We at Bafa believe in short AGM's. That gives us more time for sharing skills. Bring along your current fascinations be they techniques or media. Then show us what you do and try something new!
Tues 13 March – Caran d’Ache
John Birch will whet our appetites by demonstrating applications and techniques with a wide range of products from Caran d'Ache. Just bring your imagination and meet your inner child.
Tues 10 April – Mouth Painting
Keith Jansz is a member of The Mouth & Foot Painting Artists. His life story is as inspiring as his paintings. From an early intermittent relationship with art, almost ending with the car accident which left him severely paralysed, Keith's despair at his new situation almost took over. However, he found a way to adapt through art. Keith exhibits internationally, selling his prints worldwide. Working “en plein air” to capture atmosphere then completing the piece in the studio his paintings explore sensations of light in pastel and oil.

Tuesday 8th may- Pastel portraits
This will be an all you need to know guide to pastels and working with them. Carol Bagni specialises in oil and pastel painting using distinctive vibrant colours. Her portraits focus on the personality of the subjects.
Carol will be sharing techniques and her work. Bring your pastels and paper for a chance to experiment.
Tues 12 June - Post Impressionists
Anthony Slinn will cover the lives of this rebellious and talented group of painters. He will explore how they took impressionism into new areas of painting and paved the way to 'Modern Art'.
Anthony combines painting full time with presenting around 200 lectures a year.
Tues 10 July - Watercolour painting
Charles Evans will demonstrate and talk about his brooding watercolour landscapes which you may recognise from Yorkshire television's Emmerdale, or from painting programmes by Tyne Tees.

Tues 11 September - The Dummy Board Figure
Dummy boards are a form of trompe l'oeil in three dimensions; designed to be mistaken for the real thing. Susanne M Newstead set about rediscovering this lost art form and 15 years later she is a leading expert. She has documented her findings in the book ‘This Quiet Life’ and will take us on a voyage of historical discovery.
Tues 9 October - Japanese Woodblock
Artist and printmaker Laura Boswell learnt the art of Japanese woodblock during a residency in Japan. A tabletop method, made famous by the Japanese prints of the Edo Period, it requires no press and uses watercolour paint. Laura will demonstrate this ancient, traditional technique while sharing her experiences of Japan and the culture surrounding this enchanting printing method.
