Fiona Abel-Smith

Artist's Statement

I am an international artist who had my first solo exhibition in Spain in 1999 and has exhibited widely in North Bucks since 2004. My medium is oils on canvas or board, and I paint in a form of stylised realism, using blending techniques as a mainstay. My work is always colourful, and I love to portray the colours and patterns found in nature in my art. In fact I see so many patterns that sometimes these take over and become a painting in their own right. I constantly wonder at the beauty that exists all around us and am simply not able to paint quickly enough to commit all my inspirations to canvas.

I paint many different subject matters and find that one always sparks off inspiration for another. I paint landscapes, flowers, still life, seascapes, and imaginary worlds, and often have hidden meanings or objects in my works too.

In short, I am a very happy artist who is passionate about painting.
