Mike Foster- Mounting & Framing Well Street Church - Tuesday 7th July 2009
Mike Foster who runs the Buckingham art materials and framing store Canvas and the Canvas Art School along with his wife Tryph gave an extremely informative and enjoyable introduction to mounting and framing works of art. He covered subject by starting with the consultation session where colours and frame types are discussed and chosen. This will depend on whether the work is a watercolour, an acrylic, pencil drawing, pastel or an oil painting. Mike demonstrated how to cut a mount ready for framing behind glass. Single and double mounts were explained as well as how to float mount. Aspects of the different types of glass were also discussed. The evening was thrown open to questions where such difficult questions like "How do you stop storm flies getting between the mount and the glass?" were very well answered.
So a huge thanks to Mike for bringing in a mountain of equipment, giving up his valuable time for what was a fantastically educational and hugely enjoyable evening. |
