Freshers Night
Well Street Church
Tuesday 6th May 2008

The purpose of the evening was to provide an opportunity or our members to give us feedback on what they would like Bafa to do and also for them to gauge interest re starting some small informal groups on themes of their choice.  The other important aspect of course was to provide an environmant where members could meet, get to know one another and relax in a friendly environment and enjoy some refreshments.

Debs Last opened the evening by outlining the objectives of the evening.  This was followed by members examining the suggestion boards dispayed around the room and meeting in small groups around to discuss more possibilities and enter up their ideas.  Many members also put up their names against groups they would like to join.  We will be analysing these in due course and publishing the results to the membership.

For the last part of the evening Emily Brady gave us an absorbing insight into preparing sketch books, visual journals and altered books.  She showed us some examples of her work which were handed round.  They say that painting is like bearing your soul to the audience but in my opinion what Emily had poroduced was even more intimate and personal.

Emily had never talked to a large group like this before and was quite daunted beforehand.  But we all thought that she gave a terrific talk and so a huge thank you to Emily from all at Bafa.
