Buckingham Art For All Launch 23rd January 2008
New Buckingham Art Group Launched. On 23rd January, at the Community Centre in Buckingham, over sixty artists, aspiring beginners, amateur and professional, offered their support by attending the launch of a new Art Group to bring together the enthusiasm and artistic talent within the Buckingham area. In his welcome speech, Acting Chairman, Peter Baker said "We envisage that the Art Club (BAFA) will be led by our local community. Future meetings should be informal, laid-back and instructive but above all fun. Everyone over 16 is welcome, from beginners to professionals". Everyone enjoyed an exhibition of paintings by the founding members of Buckingham Art For All (BAFA) and were treated to an impressive and entertaining illustrated talk by local artist, Guy Scott on his recent trips to Nepal and China.
He inspired everyone present with his observations on the number of ways an art society can be tailored for the people it is to serve. Membership is just opening and the very first meeting of BAFA will be on 5th February at Well Street Methodist Reform Church at 8.00pm when Sally Bostock Leggatt, well known animal portrait water-colourist, will be giving a practical demonstration of her art. Everyone is most welcome, whether new members signing up or just those who are interested in seeing an artist at work. . |
