Guy Scott- Acrylics - A portrait of Eddie Coles
7th October 2008

Guy Scott once again gave a fantastic demonstration.  Using acrylics he demonstrated how he created his surfaces on which to paint by using tinted gesso.  This was to create a mid tone backgroung which makes it easier to work out the lights and darks.  This was followed by first creating an underpainting just showing the tones of the painting and also getting a basic likeness.  Guy then built up the painting with coloured glazes gradually being added until an extremely good sketch was achieved in just under the two hours.  Many questions were asked during the evening interspersed with long periods of silence where you could have heard a pin drop as the audience were mesmerised by Guy's fantastic artistic skill.
